Star Striker Left Out Of Torino Squad Forward Of Attainable Arsenal Move

Alessio Cerci Could Alessio Cerci be on his way the Emirates…?

It’s still unknown whether Arsenal will indeed be signing a striker following Olivier Giroud’s nasty ankle injury, but rumours are emerging from Italy that Torino man Alessico Cerci could be the man to replace him…

The 27-year-old has been left out of his club’s squad to face Inter Milan in Serie A, and according to the Daily Star, this could indicate that a move to the Emirates is on the cards.

Cerci bagged 13 top flight goals in Italy last term, and prides himself on his quick feet and ability to run in behind a defence.

Arsenal currently have only Yaya Sanogo as a natural centre-forward option, although Arsene Wenger can deploy £35m signing Alexis Sanchez, Luks Podolski, and Theo Walcott (once he’s fit again) in the no.9 position until Giroud returns.

Cerci though would add depth to the squad with only two days left until the transfer window slams shut.

He’s said to be available for around £16m, which while not cheap, is well within Arsenal’s budget.

A few days ago, Urbano Cairo, Torino’s president, confirmed that Cerci is for sale if the price is right.

“Cerci’s sale is still possible and he has asked to leave,” he said.

“There are still four days left in the transfer market, so we’ll see what happens. Of course my desire is to keep hold of him, but we’ll see if we can find a solution that suits everyone.

“I’ve given him my word that we’ll sell him if an adequate offer arrives.

“With Milan it’s all over. Arsenal? There are several options.”

Cerci has made 13 appearances for the Italian national side, but has failed to find the net for the Azzurri in any of them.
