Man City are reportedly planning a big money move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez according to the Sunday Times.

The Etihad Stadium side’s interest in the 27 year old Uruguayan will no doubt leave some wondering what the future holds of star striker Sergio Aguero, who has repeatedly linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent weeks.

Manuel Pellegrini would otherwise appear to have little reason in signing yet another striker, we are after all talking about a club that has netted an astonishing 84 goals in 31 Premier League fixtures, indeed only Liverpool have scored more in the English top tier.

There would appear to be little reason why Suarez would seek a move to Man City given his Liverpool side are on the up, Champions League qualification has all but been secured and he has recently signed a lucrative new contract that makes him the highest paid player in the club’s history.

The former Ajax man is not only the Premier League’s top goal-scorer he has also provided more assists than any other player and his partnership with Daniel Sturridge has been the bedrock of Brendan Rodgers’s genuine Premier League title charge.

Pellegrini can currently call upon the aforementioned Aguero as well as Edin Dzeko, Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic, a quartet of striking talent that has amassed a total of 85 goals in all competitions this term so it’s hard to imagine a need to make a big money move for Suarez unless one or two of the club’s current crop of forwards was on their way out.

Brendan Rodgers has recently stated that Luis Suarez could become the world’s first £100m player, a statement that was perhaps designed to scare off prospective interested parties though could instead have offered the likes of Man City and incentive to make a world record bid for the Liverpool star.
