According to the report, Liverpool are paying Dnipro a fee of around €19M (£16m) for the Ukraine international, and Konoplyanka will earn a healthy salary of about £57,500 per week.

The 24-year-old can play anywhere on the left and has been an on-again-off-again target for the club over the past week as Brendan Rodgers stepped up his quest to add to his midfield options.

H0wever, the deal looked set to hit the skids on Thursday as fellow Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur has apparently declared their own interest in signing the player.

Arsenal and Manchester United have both been credited with an interest but sought other targets during this window.

But the Reds have now seemingly prevailed and the move is all but done as all that is left to do is wait for the Merseysiders confirm it themselves.

Konoplyanks is highly rated in his home country and is already a seasoned international, earning 35 caps for his country and will now test himself in the Premier LEague.

However, it is unlikely that he will go straight into the side  for their clash with West Brom on Sunday.
