He took home ninety seven votes when compared to True Salt Lake’s Rimaldo, who got 88 votes. Third spot, with 25 votes, with to Columbus Crew’s Steve Clark. Jaime Penedo from LA Galaxy was fourth with 15.

The only players younger than Hamid to get the award are US nationwide group regulars Tim Howard (22 in 2001) and Brad Guzan (23 in 2007).
