(Video) Stoke City 1-0 Newcastle United: Alan Pardew On The Brink After Disappointing Defeat

Alan Pardew Stoke ease to victory at the Britannia Stadium against toothless Newcastle, leaving Pardew on the brink of the sack.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew looks to be on the verge of the sack this evening after his side were beaten 1-0 by Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium in a game where the Magpies simply failed to offer enough attacking threat to have taken anything from the game against the well organised Potters.

A trip to a team who were yet to score a goal on home soil would’ve been seen as an ideal chance for Newcastle to get their first win and ease the pressure on Pardew, but they were on the back foot from the outset and fell behind when Crouch scored a trademark header.

Chelsea loanee Victor Moses, who terrorised Newcastle all evening with his pace and direct running, teased the useless Daryl Janmaat down the left before coaxing in a cross that Crouch headed beyond Tim Krul after getting the jump on Fabricio Coloccini:

After falling behind, Newcastle huffed and puffed, but rarely looked like creating chances, with lone striker Emmanuel Riviere doing nothing to suggest that he could build on two League Cup goals at Crystal Palace before being hauled off for Papiss Cisse, the hero last time out against Hull City. Stoke looked the more likely through the match, however, despite losing Mame Biram Diouf to injury, with the pacey trio of Marko Anautovic, Victor Moses and Oussama Assaidi causing all manner of problems with their directness in support of Peter Crouch.

Despite their dominance, however, Stoke did allow Newcastle one chance to salvage a point and possibly their manager’s job, but it was wasted by Jack Colback, who wildly blazed against the bar after a fortuitous bounce in the box:

That was the final chance for Newcastle, with the final stages of the game being dominated by the away fans turning on their manager Pardew and owner Mike Ashley, who was at that match, both of whom were targeted by audible chanting from the away end at the Britannia Stadium.
