Greater Manchester police are concerned that remotely operated drones could target this weekend’s huge Premier League clash between Manchester City and Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, report the Mail, after a man was arrested for flying one of the devices at City’s recent win over Tottenham Hotspur.

That wasn’t even the most high profile cases involving a drone at a football game in recent weeks, with the highly charge Euro 2016 qualification clash between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade having to be abandoned after a drone carrying a politically sensitive message was flown into the Partizan stadium during the match.

The report suggests that the police will have a helicopter available in case of any drone related issues at the match, whilst around 400 officers will also be on duty at one of English football’s fiercest local rivalries.
