Anfield side target Etihad Stadium utility man.
Check in to Southampton FC vs Liverpool
Liverpool are plotting a summer move for Man City midfielder James Milner according to Sports Direct News.
The England international is something of a bit-part player at the Etihad Stadium and the 28 year old has just over a year to run on his current contract so may well be considering his future.
Thus far this term Milner has made just seven Premier League starts but is still seen as a vital back-up option to boss Manuel Pellegrini and the former Newcastle United, Leeds United and Aston Villa man faces a tough decision.
A new deal may well be forthcoming and could well be a lucrative one but the hard working utility man may well feel he needs regular first team football at this point in his career and could therefore look to secure a move away from Man City that could well see his earnings cut.
Milner moved to Man City in August 2010 and has made a total of 146 appearances for the club, though over 50 of those were from the bench.
Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers is looking for further midfield options and could see Milner as an option to be used both centrally or out wide.
Joe Allen hasn’t proven all that successful since moving to Liverpool 18 months ago and the likes of Iago Aspas and Fabio Borini may well be offloaded whilst Rodgers is unlikely to pursue Victor Moses with the loaned in Chelsea man not making an impact during his loan spell at the club.
