Nevada makes heritage by legalizing online gambling

Sandoval described the legislation as being critical to the state’s economy. “This is an historic day for the great state of Nevada. Today I sign into law the framework that will usher in the next frontier of gaming in Nevada,” said Sandoval.

A.G. Burnett, the Nevada Gaming Control Board Chairman, indicated there are already 20 applications from gaming operators, software and hardware vendors seeking online gambling licenses.

The legislation (Assembly Bill 114) contains a provision that will allow Nevada to enter compacts with other states that have larger populations, as Nevada itself has a population of less than three million. Nevada would considerably boost its revenue for iGaming if it struck an agreement with California. New Jersey meanwhile has a population of nearly nine million.
