NFL Soccer Betting: Cincinnati Bengals at New England Patriots

Big battle in the AFC on Sunday night as the Cincinnati Bengals travel to Foxboro, Massachusetts to take on the New England Patriots. The Bengals are a perfect 3-0 on the season while the Patriots are 2-2 and coming off a 41-14 thrashing at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs last Monday night. That left the Patriots in a three way tie for the AFC East lead with Buffalo and Miami.

It might be premature to say that the New England Patriots are ‘done’. At 2-2 they could easily rebound and become a factor, particulars in a division that is relatively weak. While things look manageable ‘on paper’ there are signs that things might not be going well in the Patriots camp. The most recent bombshell was a report based on a ‘source’ that quarterback Tom Brady and Patriots management aren’t on good terms right now. Brady is unhappy with suggestions that he may end up the scapegoat for the team’s poor play (in reality, he’s probably the only one on the offensive side of the ball that doesn’t deserve some of the blame) and that the team may ‘put him out to pasture’ in the near future in favor of rookie Jimmy Garoppolo out of Eastern Illinois. Brady is also not pleased with some of the team’s personnel and coaching moves which have made the team less competitive.

To underscore the state of the Patriots at the moment they’re actually underdogs at home to the Cincinnati Bengals and the Bengals have taken money throughout the week. Cincinnati is unbeaten and coming off a bye week while New England is playing off a short week. The Bengals might be the best team in the conference and this looks as if it could be a ‘statement’ game where they can give notice of the changing of the guard in the AFC.

Still, it’s tough to pass the Pats as home underdogs. They’ve won 16 of their last 18 home games going 11-7 against the spread. Cincinnati hasn’t been a great road team in years past and enter tonight’s tilt on a 3-6-1 ATS run in their last 10 road games. We’ll take the points with the Patriots who are likely not dead yet.
